BALLAD OF A WRONG’UN
Am D F Am
400 miles in a stolen car, through the back streets of Victoria
Am D F Am
He left a trail of dead bodies, for the detectives to follow
C G D Am
He said, I’m not going’ back inside, I’m goin to see my girl
C G D
And I know I’m gonna die, cos I’m takin on the world,
F
And that’s one fight you can never win
Am riff etc
He always wanted to be a star football player,
But the poor guy had a build like Leo Sayer
Frustration made him mean, he nearly killed the captain of his own football team
He had to leave town in a hurry, causin consternation all along the river Murray
Then he robs a bottleshop, down in Bendigo,
And he was only 16, and that’s not a good way to begin
Am riff etc
Bridge Em Am Em F C G D Am
That was the start of a long criminal career,
in all the Melbourne underground he became the man to fear
when he started killin kiddies everythin started goin wrong,
even in the company of killers he no longer belonged
When he killed his partner everyone put it down to greed
others said he was paranoid from takin too much speed
but when he blew up a police station everyone was mystified,
but they all agreed, they said it was the drugs that did him in
Double bridge
It was amphetamines indeed that fuelled his cross country rampage
Until a copper stopped him with a shell from a 12 gauge
A farmer in his tractor saw the showdown in his paddock
They blew the killer’s head away somewhere back of Mordialloc
But until this day the killer’s story has remained untold,
He was buggered by a priest when he was just 13 years old
His modus operandi was well tested and tried
The boy was more dead than alive,
And that’s the way they buried him
